U-14 Gaels report

On Monday evening Saval and Ballyholland went head to head. It was, to say the least, a nail bitting encounter. The game was nip and tuck the whole way from start to finish. Ballyholland were the more ruthless side in the first half and went in at the break leading on a scoreline of
0-3 to 0-2. The Saval scores coming from Joe Rice and James McCarthy.

Second half our defence was solid and kept ballyholland to one single score in the whole half. It was up to the forwards to get the scores to secure victory. And that they did. Brendan Faloon with 3 points and Paul Lyons with one meant it was down to the wire. Saval held on in the last 5 minutes with some excellent and disciplined defending by all 15 players on the field. Special mention must go to the full back line of Eoin, James and Hugh. It was frantic and chaotic to the final whistle but Saval held on a scoreline of 0-6 to 0-4.

We usually don’t single out players but the attitude and passion shown by Joe Rice on and off the ball was outstanding.

Well done everyone it was a hard fought victory by all 16 players.
