Saval U16 Girls - Sunday 26th March 2023
Annaclone 2-7 Saval 4-5
Saval U16 girls continued their league campaign with a trip away to Annaclone on Sunday 26th March. In what was a fiercely competitive contest, Saval girls put in a spirited performance and won by a four point margin in the end.
Saval took an early lead via an Ursula Hall goal that helped settle the team. Both teams played a strong and competitive game, creating chances and scoring opportunities at either side. Some resolute Saval defending limited the Annaclone scores, while further points from Niamh McGinley and a goal and point from Cassie McAloon stretched the Saval lead to four points at the midway interval.
This lead was to prove unassailable for Annaclone and despite their battling performance, the Saval forward line proved too effective in the end. Further second half goals from Connie McGrath and Cassie McAloon assured a second league win for Saval girls.
Well done to both teams for a competitive and entertaining game of football. Saval would like to wish Annaclone all the best for the remainder of their season. Many thanks to all those who travelled to the game today to support the team. Next up for our girls is a home fixture against Mayobridge on Sunday 2nd April.
