Under 13 Report

The bad weather saw the postponement of the U13 Gaels game this evening leaving the Ogs to travel to Magherlin to face St Michaels Gaels team.

On a very wet and windy evening Saval got off to a slow start conceding 2.1 with out reply in the opening 10 mins.

Playing with the wind Saval finally got going with a Goal coming off the St Michaels full back starting from a great move by Conrad OConnor down the left wing and pressure from Joesph Linden saw the defender drop it into his net.

Ordhran OSullivan and James Mc Carthy followed with well kicked points. St Michael’s popped another 2 over before Danny Canavan (free) and James O Prey replied for Saval before the half.

HT Saval 1.5 St Michael’s 2.3.

With the wind in our face in the second half the boys knew they had to work hard to get the win.

And that they did with distinction.

Two early Goals from O Sullivan got the lads a bit of momentum.

Some excellent defending from Eoin Mc Carthy, Jack Ferguson, Jonathan Greenan and Charlie Kearney kept the Magherlin men at bay. Tommy Heaney was finding his men every time with the kickouts and The ball was moving nicely through Mossy Donnelly in the middle, feeding Aaron Mc Gahan in full forward who laid ball of perfectly for the shooters.

Saval finished the game the strongest, James McCarthy 1.2, Danny Canavan 2.0 and Charlie Kearney 1.0.

Final score Saval 7.7 St Michaels 3.3

A great result for this young Saval team.
