Tommy wins weekend away after countback, in 3 way tie at the top.
The weekend of the Friday 2nd of June to Sunday 4th June, seen the Society head away for a few days of golf, relaxation and plenty of glasses of water at the wonderful Castleknock Hotel and Country Club in Dublin
On what was a glorious weekend weather wise, scores were of an exceptionally high standard.
Day 1 was played on the superb Castleknock Golf Club, out of the 22 golfers that played on Friday, 6 returned scores of 40+ points, but none better than the wee man from the bridge Declan McConville who returned a superb 46 points, closely followed in by the big Cork man, Dangerous Dave O'Sullivan with an equally impressive 45 points, nearest the pin winners on Friday were Mickey Redmond and Connor McConville, longest drive was won by the Doc Richard Hamilton and everyone in West Dublin knew about it before sunset.
After a few glasses of wine and a nice dinner it was off to bed early in anticipation for the golf on Saturday, played at the stunning Palmerstown House Nass County Kildare, scoring was not just of the high scoring standards of day 1, think the sunshine and heat was getting to everyone, out on top with an impressive 41 points was Paul Greenan, runner-up with 37 points was Paul Fearon, nearest the pin winners were Dodo McCarthy and Garry Sands, longest drive was won by that wee man from the bridge again Declan McConville, then back to Castleknock for dinner and another couple of glasses of vino and off to bed early, some maybe earlier than others.
Sunday we made the short trip to the magnificent Luttrellstown Castle Golf and Country Club, with yet again stunning weather and with 5 or 6 people in contention to win the overall weekend it was all to play for.
Returning with a super 41 points, which also included having 18 points after 5 holes was Gary Fearon, runner-up with an equally impressive 40 points, was another wee man from the bridge, this time it was Conor McConville, nearest the pin winners were Ian Mallon and Barrie McCoy, longest drive was won by the 1 night wonder Garrett Slacks Hughes.
After all the counting was done and the computer done its things we had a 3 way tie at the top, with Tomny Rocket Redmond, Kieran Lippy Madine and Patrick Rusty McCarthy all returning 112 points over the 3 days, so countback time it was, and out on top came Tommy Redmond, Kieran Madine finishing 2nd and unfortunately just out of the prizes was Rusty McCarthy.
Massive well done to all the winners and hard luck to everyone else, always next year.
Next outing is Seapoint Golf Club on Saturday 15th July.
