Saval U16 Girls – Wednesday 3rd May 2023
Clann Na Banna 5-12 Saval 1-9
Saval U16 girls resumed their league campaign this week after an extended break for exams. The girls travelled to Banbridge to play Clann Na Banna in the next game of their division two campaign.
Clann Na Banna started the game strongly and their midfield and forward line were strong, athletic and attacked in waves, registering a couple of early goals and a number points to take a commanding 7-point lead into the half time break.
This left our girls with a lot to do in the second half, however the effort and performance level lifted and Saval girls had the lion share of possession in the second half, albeit struggled to breakdown a very well organised defensive performance from Clann Na Banna. A Saval goal from Orlaith McGuinness helped narrow the gap but to their credit Clann Na Banna continued to register at the other end and in the end were deserving winners.
Well done to both teams for a competitive game of football. Saval would like to wish Clann Na Banna all the best for the remainder of their season.
