Match Report 13th August 2023: Under 11 Gaels
Mayobridge v Saval
Hold onto your hats, folks, because we've got a tale to tell – a tale of bravery, of skill, and of a bunch of pint-sized heroes who took on the world (well, Mayobridge, at least) and emerged victorious (perhaps 😉). Yes, you guessed it, we're diving into the electrifying clash between Saval Under 11’s and Mayobridge that had spectators on the edge of their picnic blankets.
In the heart of the action, we had the one and only Danny "Spider-Man" Canavan, guarding the nets like a knight defending his castle. Rumor has it that not a single ball dared to cross the goal line without his permission. With reflexes faster than a cheetah chasing its lunch, Danny left the Mayobridge attackers pondering the meaning of life as they stared at a seemingly impenetrable wall.
Now, let's talk defense – a fortress guarded by the fearsome trio of Jack "The Wall" Ferguson, Matty "The Magician" McCorry, Ryan "Steel Curtain" Hillen, and Tommy "The Tornado" Heaney. These lads didn't just clear the ball, they sent it on a vacation to the neighboring county! It was as if they had a secret map to the Bermuda Triangle hidden in their socks.
In midfield, we had the dynamic duo of Harry "Whirlwind" O'Hare and Charlie "Tornado Part 2" Kearney. These two were like a tag team of cyclones, creating a whirlwind of chaos for their opponents. They weaved and bobbed through the field, leaving Mayobridge players stumbling like extras in a slapstick comedy.
And let's not forget the attack, a group of young rascals who turned the pitch into their personal playground. Jacob "Speedster" Hughes raced down the field like a cheetah chasing a gazelle, while Ianis "Twinkle Toes" Sanduleac danced around defenders like a ballerina in cleats. James "Goal Whisperer" McCarthy managed to make the ball feel right at home in the back of the net, and Christy "The Jester" McClorey dazzled with his fancy footwork that left Mayobridge defenders questioning their life choices.
But that's not all – the lineup included Aaron "Sharpshooter" McGahan, Daniel "Dazzler" Turley, Callum “lightning” Rice and Cillian "Cannonball" McClorey, all of whom contributed to the attack with a level of finesse that would make a Michelin-star chef jealous.
By this stage, the “Deadly Dec’s” management duo were high fiving anything that moved and watching them on the sidelines is like witnessing an avant-garde interpretive dance performance. It's a spectacle that leaves us wondering if they're giving tactical instructions or auditioning for a modern dance recital.
In the end, the final whistle blew…. the real winners? Well, that would be every single person who witnessed this spectacle – a bunch of young athletes giving it their all, leaving us in awe, and showing us that the future of GAA is brighter than a rainbow after a summer storm.
So here's to Saval Under 11’s – the pint-sized powerhouses who proved that determination, teamwork, and a healthy dose of youthful mischief can lead to glory.
See you all at training on Thurs evening
